As we experience an exceedingly evolving industrial and technological landscape, the IEEE YESIST12 IEngage Track emerges as a platform that bridges innovation with real-world industry challenges. By placing industry at the center of the innovation journey, the IEngage Track encourages participants to engage with authentic problem statements and develop solutions aligned with real market and societal needs. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, the track focuses on advancing resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering technological innovation. Selected teams alongside prizes also receive guidance from industry professionals through dedicated mentorship cycles, technical sessions, and expert interactions. The track is not solely about developing solutions, but about nurturing industry-ready innovators, fostering collaboration, and creating purpose-driven innovation with measurable industrial and societal impact.

Why Should You Participate?

Selection Method

The selection process will be conducted in two main stages:

Stage 1 - Abstracts & Prelims

Abstract submission is open to all students via Pilot entry or Direct Entry.

A) Direct entry participants will be evaluated based on abstract submission. Selected innovative projects will be informed via email.

B) Pilot entry participants present projects in a preliminary round conducted by pilots. Winners move to finals.

Stage 2 - Grand Finale

Selected teams will present their projects before the jury during the finals.

Evaluation will be carried out based on criteria such as novelty, technical implementation, clarity of pitch, and expandability of the idea.

1. What is the IEngage Track?
The IEngage Track is an industry-driven innovation challenge under IEEE YESIST12 that enables participants to work on real-world, industry-defined problem statements with guidance from industry experts.
2. Who can participate in the IEngage Track?
Undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and young professionals are eligible to participate. Teams may include members from one or multiple categories.
3. What is the team size requirement?
Each team must consist of a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 4 members. Individual participation is not allowed.
4. Is having a mentor mandatory?
Yes. Each team must have a mentor who may be a faculty member, industry professional, or IEEE member.
5. How can teams submit their projects?
Teams can submit their projects through Direct Entry or via Pilot Events conducted by IEEE Sections or partner institutions.
6. Are both submission pathways evaluated differently?
No. All submissions, regardless of the entry pathway, are evaluated using the same criteria by a common jury panel, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity.
7. Do we need to have a fully working prototype to participate?
Not necessarily. Teams may submit solutions at the concept, design, or early prototype stage; however, solutions should demonstrate clear feasibility, scalability, and industry readiness.
8. What kind of problem statements will be released?
Problem Statements/Industry Themes will be released soon - stay observant.
9. What happens if our team is shortlisted?
Shortlisted teams will be invited to present their solutions at the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale. Selected teams may also receive post-event industry mentorship.
10. What do participants gain from this track?
Participants gain real-world industry exposure, expert mentorship, international visibility, networking opportunities, and recognition through an IEEE global platform.
11. Is the Grand Finale held online or offline?
All evaluation rounds are conducted online, except for the Grand Finale, which is held offline as part of the IEEE YESIST12 international conference.
12. Will participants receive certificates?
Yes. All eligible participants receive participation certificates, and shortlisted or winning teams receive additional recognition and awards as per YESIST12 guidelines.
