YESIST12 2021: AGE OF INNOVATION is a Coding and Making Challenge jointly organized by Madras IEEE Education Society Chapter, hosted in partnership with IEEE sections, Universities and leading technology industry companies across the globe. The main objective of the event is to develop and utilize the innovation present in the young minds of our society. Students can either code or design innovative ideas that will benefit the society or solve any existing problems present in the world.
  • How will students benefit from this event?
Participation in the event will help students to think critically and apply theoretical concepts to real life situations. This will help in nurturing innovation among the young and effervescent student community. Moreover, this global innovation challenge already encompasses about 16 different countries in the world. Students will gain a global cultural and ideological exposure apart from massive recognition for their innovative ideas.
  • How is this event structured and How will it take place?
YESIST12 consists of two to two different phases or rounds. There first phase consists of the prelims. Students will have to first submit their abstracts of the ideas for the prelims. Then the participants will be informed by the 5th of June about the prelims that will be conducted by numerous universities/institutions for different geographical areas. Various registered pilot institutions will be conducting the prelims for this event. Students will have to register under a certain pilot that they would like to participate for an appropriate date provided by the pilot institution itself. Different pilots will have different registration fees which might later be provided as partial travel grants for students qualifying for the finals. The second phase is the final round of the event.
  • What are the different tracks in which students can innovate?
There are about 5 different tracks in which students can participate. However these different tracks are not limited by topics. They only have a participant eligibility criteria based on age and experience. While Junior Einstein track is for students belonging to schools, Innovation challenge, Maker fair and Virtual tracks are open to all those who are doing their UG or PG. WePOWER is another newly introduced track which requires at least 75% participation of women in a team. More information regarding the track details can be found on Tracks Page.
  • What are the criteria will the projects/ideas/solutions be evaluated upon?
Most of the criteria for evaluation have been provided on the individual track pages itself. These criteria are provided in the general rules section itself.
